Hidden Dangers

Campaign website for WATERisLIFE.

The Project

WATERisLIFE is a non-profit organization that brings clean drinking water to people who need it, all over the world. Every year, WATERisLIFE creates awareness campaigns to bring attention to different regions of communities that are in desperate need of help due to water shortages. For their 2017 campaign, they wanted to highlight an issue along the Chao Praya River in Northern Thailand that had the opposite problem – there is lots of water, but it's mostly contaminated.

The Idea

The idea of the campaign was to bring awareness to the local population about the main pollutants or Hidden Dangers in the water. Four monsters were created to represent each scary thing in the water: Bacteria Monster, Trash Monster, Metal Monster and Chemical Monster.

They helped educate the locals, particularly the children about these dangers through a VR Game that included these monsters. Helpful tips for the locals on how to avoid these harmful pollutants such as using a Life Straw to filter the water before drinking also became a focus, and of course bringing awareness to the overall issue on a global scale through the campaign website.

The Work

We created a responsive website that would become a learning hub for users to learn about these Hidden Dangers, how to go about dealing with them, an explanation portal for the VR component, as well as the donation driver for the campaign.

The campaign was beautiful and visual, combining 3D monsters, expansive Northern Thailand imagery and a slick logo inspired by the Thai language. The user would land on the site, and feel as though they were plunging underwater once they had chosen their monster to learn about. The bottom of each page would prompt a donation, with each donation amount being equated to a real life object that could help the people of the area.

My Role

Facilitating the work of the creative teams, ensuring they captured what was needed for the site whilst on location was a big part of this project. As with all big ad campaigns, there were lots of moving parts and lots of coordination. On the digital side more specifically, my main contribution was:
